How’s Life? | Finished my 1st year of being a real nurse

When I first knew where my designated hospital posting was, it was chaos in my head.

Hospital Tunku Azizah

But thankfully, I wasn’t alone, almost all my classmates got there too. Aloy and Chiew, my besties also got there too.

21 April 2022- Lapor diri in HTA.

A lot happened honestly and it changed me.

New friends, new experience, new fear, and also broken ties with a friend, which is so heartbreaking. But what to do, a person’s true colour shows when we actually live in the same house. Well, that is a whole another story.

Rine also got HTA for her posting on November 2022. So she moved in with us.

Living here in KL got me thinking, “kesian Sabah” . Here, the facilities and utilities are far more advanced than in Sabah, which is a sad reality. Sabah could do better, but the YB2 in Sabah are not doing their job, all they think is to fill their pockets with the rakyat’s money.

My work? It was honestly a very tough start. I was put in the “Bank Nurse” group by Matron, which was designated to help units that was understaffed, so during my 1st to 3rd month of working, I was jumping back and forth from Pediatric Covid Ward to Ward Obstetric 7A. Then the fourth month, Matron ordered me and my friend Pae, to work in Maternity Operation Theater (MOT).

We become — Scrub nurse, and boy oh boy, it was a rocky hard journey. It took me a few months to actually get good at doing my job. All the side eyeing, the talking behind my back, the makian , the scolding, the fear, I endured it all.

And to add another layer of suffering, after only working for 4 months in MOT, I was ordered to do Attachment in Gynae OT to learn how to scrub in cases like Laparoscopy, Hysterectomy, Evacuation of POC, TAHBSO and other related cases of Gynae. I was in GOT for 5 months, ALONE. But thank to the Lord, I put on my best mask, and eventually got to fit in with the GOT staff. I learnt a lot from them. And after I finished my Attachment in GOT, I finally mustered enough confidence in me, and when I went back working in MOT, the staff finally treated me — better.

That’s me, in GOT

Life currently, feeling blessed. Thank God.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading.
